The year 2026

The association's activities support the maintenance of the competitive and high level of professionalism and respect of its members and motivate members to participate in the association's activities.

The association is a professional organization of individuals that develops cooperation among employees working in construction production in a variety of ways. The professional expertise of the membership is supplemented and improved with topics related to building services and infrastructure, as well as general education.

The purpose of the action plan is to serve as a guiding document that explains what the association will do in the coming operating year. This action plan serves as one of the association's most important steering tools and is approved at the association's statutory meeting.

There is no student membership fee.

The due date for membership fees is confirmed at the annual union meeting.

The Information and Program Committee is one of the association's institutions, whose task is to inform the membership about the association's activities, current issues and events, and to organize various programs and recreational activities for the membership. The committee listens to the wishes of the membership and accepts all suggestions for activities.

The committee's goals for 2026:

  • Improves the association's internal and external communication and visibility
  • Increase membership participation and commitment to the association's activities
  • To offer a diverse and interesting program and recreational activities for all members
  • Promotes the association's sense of community and well-being

The committee's actions for 2026:

  • Plan and implement various programs and recreational events for members
  • Collaborate with other committees, the association's board and other partners
  • Collect and communicate feedback, wishes and needs from members to develop operations
  • Report on the committee's activities to the association's board and meetings

Mestari evenings are held on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 PM from September to May at Hotel Mestari. The evenings mainly discuss current educational, professional and organizational issues. The evenings may also include a lighter program.

In addition to the association's website, the main channels of information are the association's member magazine and the RKL column in the Rakennuslehti magazine. The member magazine, which is published nine (9) times a year, provides information about the association's activities and publishes articles related to the profession and construction.

The primary purpose of the activities is to promote the professional development of members, and to help them stay up to date with the development of materials and working methods, as well as changes in legislation.

Various training events are organized in cooperation between RKL and the association. In 2025, two training courses will be organized in the spring and autumn.

The association also offers support to its members who are influential in working life to maintain and/or develop their professional qualifications by paying part of the training/participation fee.

The committee's goals for 2026:

  • Provide members with high-quality and up-to-date training, lectures and coaching
  • Support members' career development and employment
  • Promotes networking and collaboration between members
  • To increase members' knowledge and appreciation of the association's activities

The committee's actions for 2026:

  • Provide opportunities for members to participate in educational and coaching services, such as online courses, webinars, and mentoring
  • Inform members about the latest trends, innovations, research and publications in the industry
  • Report on the committee's activities to the association's board and meetings

The task of the Membership and Recognition Committee is to prepare proposals for the board of directors on recognition and to recommend awards and recognitions to be granted to the association's members. The committee handles both the association's own recognitions and those of the federation and the state.

The committee's goals for 2026:

  • Recognize and acknowledge its members in the form of recognition and various awards.
  • Increase awareness of the recognition and merit badges to be sought in the association's activities.

The committee's actions for 2026:

  • Prepares presentations for the board meeting on awards and various prizes
  • Report on the committee's activities to the association's board and meetings
  • Develop a scoring system for awards and point limits for different awards, as well as guidelines for preparing applications.

Hobby and club activities in the association promote the well-being, community and networking of members, and offer activities for those interested in different areas. If a member or members see an interest in a topic, they have the opportunity to form a sub-division, which can promote the activities of the topic in the association. The entire membership of the association has the opportunity to participate in events and other activities organized by the sub-divisions. The exceptions are HRMY Youth, HRMY Seniors and Construction Masters Ladies, whose participation in activities has special restrictions.

The sub-departments organize championships in skiing, cross-country running, athletics, orienteering, swimming, bowling, fishing and golf. If there are enough enthusiasts, the number of sports and activities can be increased.

Members of the association have the opportunity to participate in the RKL championships. The association supports the competitors' travel and accommodation expenses as well as participation fees.

The association will organize sports trials during 2026.

The culture and heritage club KUPE and HRMY-Seniors organize events and trips to various destinations, such as professional study trips.

Association information, recreation and recruitment events are organized for student members. Secondary school students are informed about the possibility of master builder training. HRMY Youth organizes events aimed at students and young members.

A joint event is organized for the sub-departments annually to review their activities. The event also reviews the guidelines issued by the board regarding trips and events organized by the sub-departments with support from HRMY.

The association has clarified instructions on support and operations for sub-branch events. (Board operating instructions regarding trips and events organized by sub-branches with support granted by HRMY, 1 September 2024).

Cooperation between associations is an essential part of the operation and enables better operations and impact.

In collaboration with HERIA Helsinki, new forms of activity are being developed. The collaboration also aims to organize "Theme Evenings" and training with HeRIA. In addition, a traditional housing fair trip to the 2026 destination will be organized with HeRIA.

HRMY organizes training courses in collaboration with RKL to support the skills and development of its members. HRMY Youth Club collaborates with RKL's student committee.

HRMY continues and develops cooperation with the Master Singers Association, the Building Master Bowlers Association and the Building Master Club Association.

The association's board has begun drafting a long-term plan for the association's future. The plan is expected to be completed in 2024 and will be used to develop operations in 2026. The plan will be updated according to the association's operations and different parts of it can be developed if the need is seen. However, the plan will be updated in its entirety at least every five years.

The association's operations will continue as they are today, but with the aim of modernizing them and responding to the needs of its members. Member surveys will be conducted to help develop and improve the association's operations in the future.

As part of the association's modernization and response to the needs of its members, an extensive brand renewal was launched in 2023, which will continue in 2026. The goal of the renewal is to update the association's external appearance to better reflect the present day and to develop services and other offerings even better with the current and future needs of its membership in mind.

Members of the association have access to a leisure centre in Kisakallio, Lohja,
and holiday cottages Himoslakka A and B in Himos, Jämsä.

The association will celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2026. The 120th anniversary will be celebrated on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, at the Clarion Hotel Mestari.

With the retirement of Sirkka Saarinen, the long-time editor-in-chief of the association's magazine, a new entity responsible for the association's magazine will be selected by the board in 2025, following a competitive process.

The association continues to support its members' sports and cultural benefits in the form of cards with a total value of €100.

We will participate in the union meeting to be held in the fall of 2026. The location of the union meeting has not yet been confirmed.

Collaboration meetings will continue with other organizations and associations, and activities will be intensified where possible. Efforts will be made to organize association visits to the surrounding area.

Various events and occasions are organized during the operating year for the association's members and their families.
